Rajasthan police have detained seven suspects, including a doctor and an engineer, over a ₹92.75 million cyber fraud in Baran, uncovering a scheme that routed bank accounts to a senior official residing in Nepal for a commission.

Baran district police announced the arrest of seven individuals suspected of orchestrating a cyber fraud that siphoned approximately ₹92.75 million from victims across the region. The investigation, launched after multiple complaints of unauthorized online transactions, pinpointed a coordinated network operating from the city.

Among those taken into custody are a medical doctor, an engineer and a physiotherapist, along with four other persons whose professional backgrounds were not disclosed. Authorities said the diverse professional profiles suggest the fraudsters leveraged their credentials to gain trust and facilitate illicit transfers.

Further probing revealed that the conspirators supplied bank account details to other cyber‑criminal groups in exchange for a commission. The accounts were allegedly linked to a senior official, referred to as a "Sargana," who is currently residing in Nepal, indicating a cross‑border dimension to the scheme.

The police have filed a detailed charge sheet and are continuing to trace additional beneficiaries. Senior officers emphasized that the case underscores the growing sophistication of cyber‑crimes in smaller towns and urged the public to remain vigilant while using digital payment platforms.
