Bango Dam Opens Five Gates Amid Rain Alert in North Chhattisgarh

Five gates of the Bango Dam in northern Chhattisgarh were opened today in response to rising water levels and an impending four‑day rain alert issued by the state weather department. The decision was taken after a review of reservoir readings and forecasted rainfall that could increase the risk of downstream flooding.
The dam, which supplies water to several districts in the region, is managed by the Chhattisgarh State Water Resources Department. Officials said the gates will be closed again once the water level stabilises and the rain threat subsides.
Residents in nearby villages have been advised to stay alert and follow any evacuation orders if necessary. The authorities have also set up monitoring teams to oversee the dam’s operations during the forecasted period.
