The Bangalore police have started Project Suraksha, deploying extra CCTV cameras and night‑patrol vehicles in peripheral neighborhoods to improve security for women and senior citizens after dark.

Bangalore police have inaugurated a new security initiative called Project Suraksha aimed at strengthening safety for women and senior citizens in the city’s outer‑ring neighborhoods during night hours. The program introduces additional CCTV surveillance points and dedicated night‑patrol vehicles to monitor and respond to incidents more promptly.

Under Project Suraksha, police officials will deploy a higher number of CCTV cameras in identified vulnerable localities, creating a continuous visual record of activities after sunset. The increased coverage is intended to deter criminal behaviour and provide quicker evidence for investigations.

Alongside the upgraded surveillance, specially equipped patrol vehicles will conduct regular night rounds in the targeted areas. Officers on these patrols are instructed to focus on assisting women travelling alone and senior residents, offering immediate assistance and reporting any suspicious activity.

The police department said the initiative is a proactive response to growing concerns about safety in the city’s peripheral districts. Officials will assess the effectiveness of the added measures and may expand the program based on feedback and observed outcomes.
