The Madhya Pradesh government has appointed pediatric specialist Dr. Shatrughna Singh Dahiya as the new Chief Medical Health Officer of Balaghat to strengthen the district's health services.

The state health department announced that Dr. Shatrughna Singh Dahiya, a pediatrician currently posted at Jabalpur District Hospital, will assume the role of Chief Medical Health Officer (CMHO) for Balaghat district. The move is part of an effort to improve the delivery of health services in the region, which has recently faced a spate of child deaths.

In his new capacity, Dr. Dahiya will oversee primary health centres, sub‑district hospitals and other medical facilities in Balaghat, coordinating preventive and curative care for children and the general population. Officials said his experience in pediatric care is expected to address gaps in child health monitoring and treatment.

The appointment reflects the state government's broader strategy to reinforce medical leadership in districts where health outcomes have been under scrutiny. Authorities have not disclosed a specific timeline for any policy changes, but the new CMHO is expected to begin his duties within the coming days.
