Baba Mahakal adorned with silver crown and trident symbols during Ujjain's Bhasma Aarti

During the morning Bhasma Aarti in Ujjain, the idol of Baba Mahakal was decorated with a silver crown, a garland of skulls and the trident‑eye symbols, followed by chants of ‘Jai Shri Mahakal’.
Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh – The daily Bhasma Aarti at the Mahakaleshwar Temple witnessed a special embellishment of the Baba Mahakal idol this morning. Priests placed a silver crown on the deity’s head, draped a garland made of skulls, and applied the traditional trident‑eye (Trinetra) and triple‑dot (Tripund) markings.
The ritual began with the offering of sacred ash (bhasma) to the idol, after which the temple complex resonated with the chant “Jai Shri Mahakal”. Devotees gathered in large numbers, lining the courtyard to witness the elaborate decoration and to partake in the devotional atmosphere.
Temple officials said the enhanced adornments are part of a seasonal tradition aimed at honoring the fierce aspect of Shiva as Mahakal. The ceremony proceeded without any disruptions, and the crowd remained orderly throughout the proceedings.
Security personnel were deployed to manage the influx of worshippers, ensuring smooth movement within the premises. The event concluded with the distribution of prasadam to the assembled devotees.
