Around 30 lakh oil‑lamps were lit along the Saryu ghats in Ayodhya on the eve of Diwali, creating a spectacular Deepotsav celebration.

Ayodhya’s historic Saryu ghats were transformed into a sea of light on the evening before Diwali, as organisers of the Deepotsav festival lit approximately three million diyas. The massive illumination stretched along the riverbank, highlighting the city’s religious heritage and drawing large crowds of devotees and tourists.

Local authorities coordinated the event, ensuring safety measures for the dense gathering of people who gathered to witness the spectacle. The lighting ceremony began shortly after sunset and continued well into the night, with the glow reflecting off the waters of the Saryu River.

The Deepotsav celebration is part of the broader Diwali festivities in Ayodhya, a city revered as the birthplace of Lord Rama. Organisers said the scale of the lighting – 30 lakh diyas – underscores the community’s devotion and the cultural importance of the festival in the region.

No incidents were reported, and the event concluded without any disruptions, leaving a lasting impression of unity and reverence among attendees.
