The Atal Setu entry point for vehicles heading to Porvorim has been opened today, while a comprehensive traffic management plan will be unveiled within the next seven days, according to transport minister Sawant.
The Atal Setu, a key bridge linking the capital region with the northern suburbs of Goa, began allowing traffic from Porvorim this morning. Officials opened the dedicated entry lane to ease congestion on the existing routes and to provide a smoother commute for daily commuters.
Transport minister Pramod Sawant announced that a detailed traffic management plan will be released within a week. The plan is expected to outline lane allocations, signal timings and alternative routes to accommodate the increased flow of vehicles.
Local authorities anticipate that the new entry will reduce travel time between Porvorim and the city centre by several minutes, especially during peak hours. They have urged drivers to follow the temporary signage and cooperate with traffic police during the transition period.
