The business lobby ASSOCHam projects bilateral trade with Japan to rise to $50 billion by 2030, reflecting deepening economic ties.
New data released by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM) indicate that the total value of goods and services exchanged between India and Japan could reach $50 billion by the end of the decade. The projection is based on current growth trends, ongoing strategic partnerships, and the expansion of sectors such as technology, automotive, and renewable energy.
ASSOCHAM highlighted that recent agreements on investment protection and supply‑chain collaboration have bolstered confidence among exporters and importers in both countries. It also noted that Japanese firms are increasing their presence in Indian manufacturing hubs, while Indian companies are tapping Japanese expertise in high‑tech manufacturing.
The report calls for policy measures to sustain the momentum, including simplifying customs procedures, enhancing digital trade infrastructure, and encouraging joint research and development initiatives. If these steps are taken, the $50 billion target could be achieved ahead of schedule, further solidifying the strategic partnership between the two economies.
