The Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) commemorated Shaheed Divas in Assam and unveiled a newly elected 199‑member executive committee.

The Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP), a prominent staff union in Assam, observed Shaheed Divas, a day set aside to honour the memory of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the state. The observance was marked by gatherings of union members and supporters across the region, who paid tribute through wreath‑laying and brief speeches.

During the ceremony, senior union leaders highlighted the historical significance of the day and reiterated SAKP's commitment to safeguarding the rights of government employees. The event also served as a platform to discuss the challenges faced by the civil service in the current administrative climate.

In a parallel development, SAKP announced the formation of a new executive committee comprising 199 members. The committee, elected by the union's constituency, is expected to steer the organization’s activities, negotiate with the state government, and address member grievances over the coming term.

Union officials indicated that the expanded committee reflects a broader representation of various departments and regions within Assam, aiming to strengthen collective bargaining and improve service delivery. The newly constituted body will convene its first meeting next week to outline its agenda and priorities.
