During the search, officers seized the firearm and questioned the suspect, who claimed that the pistol had been brought from Nagaland for the purpose of sale.
The arrested individual is now being held on charges under the Arms Act and is expected to appear before the local court next week.
Sivasagar police spokesperson stated that the investigation will determine whether the weapon was illegally procured and if any other parties are involved.
