Assam urged to convert industrial growth into jobs for its youth, says Jayanta Mallabaruah

Jayanta Mallabaruah, a senior official of the Assam government, stressed that the state’s recent industrial expansion must be harnessed to create jobs for its burgeoning youth demographic. He highlighted that while factories and new projects are sprouting across the region, the benefits should directly reach local job seekers.

Assam has witnessed a steady rise in manufacturing and ancillary sectors, yet unemployment among young adults remains a pressing concern. Mallabaruah pointed out that without deliberate policies linking new enterprises to local hiring, the growth could bypass the very communities it aims to uplift.

The minister urged policymakers and industry leaders to adopt recruitment strategies that prioritize Assamese youth, coupled with skill‑development programmes tailored to the needs of emerging industries. He indicated that such coordinated efforts would ensure that economic progress translates into tangible livelihood opportunities for the state’s next generation.
