Teachers in Assam, represented by the SNA‑SPARSH union, have warned they will file lawsuits and stage a gherao to press for overdue SRD salaries.
The teachers' federation SNA‑SPARSH announced that its members will resort to legal measures and a gherao if the Assam government does not clear pending SRD (Special Recruitment Drive) salaries.
The demand arises from prolonged delays in disbursing salaries to teachers appointed under the SRD scheme, which the union says has placed many families under financial strain.
SNA‑SPARSH has warned it will approach the courts and encircle education department offices, urging authorities to settle the dues without further postponement.
State officials have not issued a detailed response yet, but meetings with union representatives are expected in the coming days.
