Assam police recovered Rs 5.56 lakh in cash and jewellery worth crores in Bajali, while two suspects were detained in Dhubri.
Assam police in Bajali recovered a cache of Rs 5.56 lakh in cash and jewellery valued at several crores during a recent operation.
The recovered items were found in a concealed location belonging to a suspect linked to a larger smuggling network. Police officials said the jewellery, comprising gold and precious stones, is currently under forensic examination.
In a related move, two individuals were taken into custody in Dhubri on charges of facilitating the movement of the stolen goods. The suspects are being held for further investigation.
The Bajali police are coordinating with the Dhubri police and state authorities to trace the origin of the stolen items and to identify any other accomplices.
The recovered cash and jewellery are being stored in a secure facility pending the outcome of the investigation.
