Chief Ministers of Assam and Meghalaya have urged the central government to accelerate externally aided development projects in the Northeast, citing the need for faster implementation and increased funding.
The chief ministers of Assam and Meghalaya met in a joint session to discuss the status of externally aided projects in the Northeast.
Both leaders highlighted that several projects funded by foreign agencies and multilateral institutions have stalled due to bureaucratic delays and lack of coordination between state and central agencies.
They called on the central government to streamline approval processes, increase the allocation of funds, and establish a dedicated task force to monitor progress.
The leaders also expressed confidence that a renewed push would boost infrastructure development, create jobs, and improve connectivity across the region.
