The Government of Assam has announced an expansion of cancer treatment facilities across the state to improve accessibility for patients.
Assam's health ministry has unveiled a plan to add new cancer treatment centres and upgrade existing ones across the state.
The initiative aims to reduce travel time for patients in rural districts by bringing advanced diagnostics and chemotherapy services closer to them.
According to officials, the expansion will include state-of-the-art radiotherapy units and multidisciplinary oncology teams in at least five new locations.
The move comes as part of the state's broader effort to improve healthcare infrastructure and address the rising incidence of cancer among its population.
