Assam’s Director General of Police, Lovlina Borgohain, officially launched a long‑distance motorcycle rally from Guwahati, marking the commencement of a journey that will traverse several states before reaching Gujarat. The flag‑off ceremony took place at a public gathering in Guwahati, where Borgohain addressed the riders and highlighted the rally’s aim to promote national cohesion.
The rally is scheduled to cover a route that passes through key cities across the subcontinent, linking the northeastern region with western Gujarat. Organisers have positioned the event as a symbolic gesture ahead of National Unity Day, celebrated on October 31, to underscore the idea of a united India despite its geographic and cultural diversity.
Participants, a mix of amateur and seasoned motorcyclists, will travel in coordinated convoys, adhering to safety protocols set by the police. Borgohain emphasized that the rally will also serve as a platform for community outreach, with planned stops for local cultural programs and awareness drives. The journey is expected to conclude in Gujarat a few weeks after its launch, aligning with the national holiday celebrations.
