A Congress MP from Assam has written to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, seeking his intervention to trace two women who were reportedly pushed back to Bangladesh without legal process.

A member of the Indian National Congress representing Assam has formally appealed to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, urging him to investigate the whereabouts of two women who, according to the MP, were illegally repatriated to Bangladesh.

The MP alleges that the women were pushed back across the border without following due legal procedures, raising concerns about potential violations of human rights and the safety of Indian citizens in border areas.

In the letter, the lawmaker requests that the Ministry of External Affairs coordinate with relevant agencies to locate the women, verify the circumstances of their return, and ensure that any wrongdoing is addressed.

The appeal comes amid ongoing scrutiny of border management practices in the Northeast, where cross‑border movement and security issues remain sensitive topics.

No official response from the Ministry has been recorded at the time of this report.
