Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Dibrugarh to assess the ongoing work on the state's new assembly building and the Khanikar multi‑sports complex.

Assam's chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, made an on‑site inspection in Dibrugarh to review the status of two major infrastructure projects – the new state assembly complex and the Khanikar multi‑sports complex. The visit was part of a scheduled tour aimed at monitoring progress on key development initiatives in the northeastern state.

The new assembly complex, slated to replace the aging legislative building, is being constructed on a designated campus on the outskirts of Dibrugarh. Officials say the structure is advancing according to the planned timeline, with foundation work and primary superstructure already in place.

Adjacent to the assembly site, the Khanikar sports complex is being built to host a range of indoor and outdoor events, including football, athletics and badminton. The project is intended to boost sports infrastructure in the region and provide training facilities for local athletes.

During the review, the chief minister met with project engineers and local officials, who briefed him on the current milestones and upcoming phases. No specific completion dates were announced, but the administration reiterated its commitment to delivering both facilities within the stipulated fiscal period.
