Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma appealed to Assamese living outside the state to actively promote Assam’s investment opportunities and attract capital.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed Assamese communities residing beyond Assam’s borders, urging them to become ambassadors for the state’s economic prospects. He highlighted Assam’s strategic location, abundant natural resources and recent policy reforms aimed at easing business operations. Sarma emphasized that the diaspora’s networks and credibility could play a pivotal role in drawing domestic and foreign investors.
The CM cited ongoing infrastructure projects, such as new highways, rail links and river‑port developments, as evidence of the state’s readiness for large‑scale investment. He also pointed to incentives under the Assam Investment Promotion Scheme, which offer tax benefits and streamlined clearances for eligible enterprises.
Sarma’s appeal comes ahead of the upcoming Assam Investment Summit, where state officials plan to showcase opportunities in sectors like agro‑processing, tourism, renewable energy and manufacturing. He called on overseas Assamese to share success stories, facilitate partnerships and help position Assam as a competitive investment destination in Northeast India.
