The Assam government has unveiled a Rs 50,000 crore investment programme aimed at achieving its ‘Viksit Assam 2047’ development vision.
Guwahati, Sept 16 2026 – Assam’s administration disclosed a comprehensive investment roadmap totalling Rs 50,000 crore, targeting infrastructure, industry, education and health sectors. The plan is framed as the financial backbone of the state’s long‑term vision, ‘Viksit Assam 2047’, which seeks to elevate economic growth and human development by the centenary of India’s independence.
The funding is expected to be mobilised through a mix of state budget allocations, public‑private partnerships and central government grants. Officials said the scheme will prioritise road and rail upgrades, renewable‑energy projects, skill‑development centres and modern healthcare facilities across the state.
While detailed project lists are pending, the government indicated that the investment will be rolled out in phases over the next two decades, with periodic reviews to ensure alignment with the 2047 targets. The announcement aligns with broader national efforts to boost regional economies and reduce disparities.
Analysts note that the scale of the outlay, if effectively deployed, could position Assam as a growth engine in the Northeast, attracting further private capital and enhancing connectivity with neighboring countries.
