The North East Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS) from Arunachal Pradesh scaled 20 peaks across Ladakh in just 23 days, establishing a new Indian mountaineering record.
The North East Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS), based in Arunachal Pradesh, completed an unprecedented climb of 20 mountain peaks in the Ladakh region within a span of 23 days. The feat, achieved across several high-altitude routes, has been recognised as the fastest summit of this magnitude by an Indian team.
Team members tackled a mix of technically demanding and remote peaks, maintaining a rigorous schedule that left little room for rest. Their success underscores the growing expertise of mountaineers from India's Northeast in high-altitude adventure sports.
Officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports praised the accomplishment, noting its potential to inspire greater participation in mountaineering across the country. The record also highlights Ladakh's status as a premier destination for extreme trekking and climbing challenges.
NIMAS plans to document the expedition in detail and share lessons learned with other training institutes, aiming to further elevate India's presence in the global mountaineering community.
