Arunachal Villagers Revive Neglected PMGSY Road After Years of Inaction

Villagers in Arunachal Pradesh took it upon themselves to repair a neglected PMGSY road, restoring connectivity after years of neglect.
The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) road that once linked a remote village in Arunachal Pradesh had fallen into disrepair, leaving residents isolated for years.
In the absence of government intervention, local villagers organized a community effort, gathering sand, gravel, and labor to patch the broken surface and clear overgrown vegetation.
After weeks of hard work, the road was restored to a passable condition, allowing vehicles to travel safely and enabling farmers to transport produce to nearby markets.
While the state government has yet to allocate additional funds for the project, the villagers’ initiative has been praised for its self‑reliance and has sparked discussions about more proactive support for rural infrastructure.
