The state minister of Arunachal Pradesh has appealed to the Union government for additional financial and policy support to strengthen programmes for women and children.
Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh – In a recent statement, the state’s women and child welfare minister highlighted gaps in funding and infrastructure that are hampering the delivery of essential services to vulnerable groups. The minister urged the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development to allocate greater resources and to facilitate the implementation of central schemes at the grassroots level.
The appeal comes amid concerns that existing programmes, such as the Integrated Child Development Services and the Mahila Samakhya initiative, are not reaching remote districts effectively. The minister emphasized the need for targeted interventions, capacity building for frontline workers, and improved monitoring mechanisms.
State officials said they will submit a detailed proposal to the Centre outlining specific budgetary requirements and project plans. If approved, the additional support could enhance nutrition, health check‑ups, and skill‑development opportunities for women and children across Arunachal Pradesh.
The central government has previously pledged to increase funding for welfare schemes in the North‑East, and the minister’s request aligns with those broader policy goals.
