The Arunachal Pradesh administration has released four individuals detained for protesting the Siang dam project and has announced plans to reopen talks with stakeholders.
The state government of Arunachal Pradesh announced today that four activists who had been held in custody for taking part in protests against the Siang river dam project have been released. The detainees were arrested earlier this month following demonstrations that turned confrontational at the dam construction site.
Officials said the decision to free the protesters is part of an effort to de‑escalate tensions and to create a more conducive environment for dialogue.
