The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh called for coordinated actions to increase coffee cultivation across the state, aiming to boost farmer incomes and diversify agriculture.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu urged the state’s agricultural community and officials to work together to expand coffee cultivation, saying the crop holds promise for higher returns and climate‑resilient farming.
He noted that coffee, already grown in pockets of the state’s high‑altitude zones, can generate additional income for smallholders and reduce dependence on traditional cereals.
The government intends to support the push by providing technical assistance, quality seed distribution and by linking farmers to domestic and export markets. State agencies will also coordinate with research institutions to improve yields and promote sustainable practices.
If scaled successfully, coffee could become a major cash crop for Arunachal Pradesh, creating rural jobs and diversifying the state’s economy.
