Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced that Arunachal Pradesh has reached full household electrification and tap‑water supply across the state.
Arunachal Pradesh's government declared on Thursday that the state has attained 100 percent coverage for both electricity and piped water, marking a milestone in its infrastructure development. Chief Minister Pema Khandu highlighted that the achievement reflects years of sustained investment in rural electrification and water supply schemes, ensuring that every household now has reliable power and access to safe drinking water.
The power coverage drive, part of the central government's Saubhagya programme, was completed earlier this year, while the tap‑water initiative was rolled out through the state's own water‑resource management projects. Officials said the combined effort has lifted living standards, reduced dependence on diesel generators, and improved health outcomes by providing clean water.
Khandu urged continued maintenance and monitoring to sustain the gains, and announced plans to upgrade the distribution network to handle future demand. The state aims to use the new infrastructure as a foundation for further economic growth, especially in tourism and small‑scale industries.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Itanagar, where the CM also thanked central agencies, local contractors, and community volunteers for their role in the successful rollout.
