Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, speaking at a recent government briefing, stressed the need for disaster management policies that are tailored to the state's varied terrain.
The state, located in the northeastern Himalayas, is prone to landslides, flash floods and seismic activity. Khandu highlighted that a one‑size‑fits‑all approach would be ineffective in addressing the unique challenges posed by the region’s steep valleys, riverine belts and isolated communities.
He called on central and state agencies to collaborate on developing region‑specific preparedness plans, early warning systems and infrastructure that can withstand the specific hazards of Arunachal Pradesh.
