Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has emphasized that the Siang hydropower project is not only an energy source but also a strategic asset for India's national security.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has underscored the strategic importance of the Siang hydropower project, stating that it is more than a source of electricity.
The Siang River, which flows through the northeastern state, is a critical waterway that borders China. The project’s power generation capacity will support both civilian needs and the operational readiness of border security forces.
The initiative aligns with the central government’s broader plan to develop infrastructure in the Northeast, thereby strengthening India’s strategic posture along its frontier.
Khandu also highlighted that the project will bring reliable power to remote communities, fostering economic growth while simultaneously enhancing national security.
