The Arunachal Pradesh administration has deployed helicopters to airlift food, medicine and blankets to villages in Upper Subansiri district that have been hit by severe floods.
The operation, launched after heavy rainfall caused widespread inundation, saw relief teams load supplies onto two helicopters and fly them to remote hamlets that are now cut off by water.
Local officials said the airlift will continue until basic needs are met and that additional resources are being mobilised.
The government has also urged residents to remain vigilant as the monsoon season continues and more rainfall is expected.
This first phase of the relief effort has already reached over a dozen villages, according to district authorities.
