An activist from Arunachal Pradesh has been booked by police for allegedly receiving foreign money to finance protests against a dam project.

Arunachal Pradesh police have filed a case against a local activist, accusing him of accepting foreign funds to support demonstrations against a proposed dam. The booking was made under provisions that prohibit the use of overseas money for political or protest activities.

The activist has been a prominent voice in the anti‑dam movement, organising rallies and mobilising villagers who fear displacement and ecological damage. Authorities say the funding was channeled through an unregistered foreign entity, violating the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act.

Law enforcement officials indicated that the case will be investigated further, and the activist could face charges of contravening foreign funding rules. No comment was obtained from the activist or his representatives at the time of reporting.
