Rescue teams in Chhattisgarh have evacuated roughly five thousand flood‑affected residents and transferred them to temporary relief camps.
Rescue teams continued operations across flood‑hit districts of Chhattisgarh after torrential monsoon rains caused rivers to overflow. The rising water inundated villages, cutting off roads and isolating thousands of residents.
State disaster management authorities, assisted by the National Disaster Response Force and local volunteers, have evacuated approximately five thousand people from the worst‑affected areas. Those rescued were taken to pre‑established relief camps set up in nearby towns.
The camps are providing emergency shelter, food, drinking water and basic medical care. Officials said the situation remains fluid, with additional teams on standby to assist any remaining stranded families and to monitor the water levels as the monsoon persists.
