Security forces recovered a hidden stock of firearms and ammunition from a forest area in Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir.
Security personnel conducting a routine sweep in a forested area of Baramulla district uncovered a concealed cache of small arms and ammunition. The seizure was confirmed by local authorities, who said the weapons were hidden in a remote part of the forest and were recovered without incident.
Officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, assisted by army units, carried out the operation after receiving intelligence about possible illegal arms storage. The cache included several rifles, pistols and a substantial quantity of ammunition, though exact numbers have not been disclosed.
The recovery is being treated as a significant blow to illicit arms networks operating in the region. Investigations are underway to trace the origin of the weapons and to identify any links to militant or criminal groups. The authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious activity in forested or remote areas.
No injuries or arrests were reported at the time of the seizure, and the recovered arms have been handed over to the appropriate forensic laboratory for further examination.
