The traditional Vallasadya ceremony at Aranmula in Kerala has been reinstated after a brief halt caused by heavy rainfall, with priests and devotees taking part in the resumed festivities.
The annual Vallasadya, a grand communal feast linked to the Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple, was suspended earlier this week when torrential rain flooded the temple precincts and surrounding roads. Local authorities cleared the waterlogged areas and restored access to the temple grounds, allowing the event to recommence on Saturday.
Priests performed the customary purification rites before the first serving of the traditional vegetarian meal, which is prepared in large iron cauldrons and shared among thousands of participants. The resumption was welcomed by devotees who had gathered despite the weather, many of whom traveled from nearby districts to partake in the cultural and religious observance.
