The Andhra Pradesh government has announced free land and subsidised electricity for telecom operators to set up mobile towers in remote villages, aiming to improve connectivity.

The state government has unveiled a scheme to provide rent‑free plots and subsidised power to mobile network operators for erecting towers in underserved villages. The initiative, announced by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s office, seeks to bridge the digital divide and boost rural connectivity.

Under the plan, operators can acquire land at no cost and receive discounted electricity rates for tower operations. The move is expected to accelerate the rollout of 4G and 5G services in areas that have historically lagged in telecom infrastructure.

Industry analysts say the policy could attract investment from major telecom players and improve service quality for rural customers. The government also plans to monitor tower deployment to ensure compliance with environmental and safety norms.
