The Andhra Pradesh cabinet has approved the recruitment of 913 additional Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) to strengthen rural health services, announced Health Minister Y. Satya Kumar Yadav.

ASHA workers serve as the first point of contact between the health system and rural households, providing health education, facilitating immunisation, and supporting maternal and child health programmes. The recruitment drive will be conducted through the state’s health department, with positions advertised on official portals and selection based on the standard eligibility criteria for ASHA posts. The minister indicated that the appointments are expected to be completed within the next few months, subject to budgetary allocations.
By expanding the ASHA workforce, the government aims to create employment opportunities for women in rural communities while enhancing the delivery of essential health services.
