Police have taken into custody an additional suspect linked to the recent Chitkara University disturbance in Patiala, Punjab.
Patiala police announced the arrest of another individual suspected of involvement in the unrest that erupted at Chitkara University earlier this week. The suspect was apprehended following a series of inquiries and was presented to the local magistrate for formal booking.
The university disturbance, which began as a student protest over campus issues, quickly escalated into clashes with security personnel, prompting a police crackdown. Several students and staff members were injured, and the campus was placed under temporary lockdown.
Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the newly arrested person, citing ongoing investigations, but said the arrest is part of a broader effort to identify all participants in the incident. The police have urged anyone with further information to come forward.
The university administration has expressed concern over the safety of its community and is cooperating with law enforcement to restore normalcy on campus.
