Rescue teams have recovered an additional body from Kedartal, the high‑altitude lake in Uttarakhand, following recent fatalities.
Rescue personnel operating in the Kedartal region of Uttarakhand have announced the recovery of another missing person’s body. The body was found near the glacial lake after a systematic search that began following a series of incidents earlier this week.
Authorities from the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) and local police confirmed that the recovery is part of an ongoing effort to locate all victims of the recent trekking mishap in the area. The terrain around Kedartal is steep and covered with snow, making search operations challenging.
The SDMA spokesperson said that teams will continue to comb the surrounding valleys for any remaining missing persons. Families have been notified, and a formal identification process is underway in accordance with standard procedures.
Kedartal, situated at an altitude of about 5,000 metres in the Garhwal Himalayas, attracts trekkers and pilgrims, but weather conditions can turn hazardous quickly. Officials have urged the public to exercise caution and to seek official permits before attempting the trek.
Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses and as additional bodies, if any, are recovered.
