Andhra Pradesh Unveils ‘One Water’ Strategy at IFAT India 2026

The Andhra Pradesh government presented its integrated ‘One Water’ vision at the IFAT India 2026 exhibition, outlining a unified approach to water supply, wastewater treatment and reuse.
At the IFAT India 2026 trade fair in New Delhi, officials from the Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Department showcased the state’s ‘One Water’ vision, a framework that seeks to manage all aspects of water – from sourcing and distribution to treatment and recycling – under a single coordinated system.
The presentation highlighted ongoing projects such as the expansion of rainwater harvesting networks, the upgradation of urban sewage treatment plants, and the promotion of industrial water reuse. State officials said the integrated model aims to reduce water stress, improve quality of life and attract investment in water‑related infrastructure.
The initiative aligns with the central government’s emphasis on sustainable water management and is expected to be rolled out across the state’s districts over the next five years, with pilot programmes already underway in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.
Stakeholders from technology firms, NGOs and academia attended the session, indicating broad interest in collaborative solutions. The Andhra Pradesh team pledged to share data and best practices with other states to accelerate nationwide adoption of the ‘One Water’ approach.
The IFAT India platform, known for showcasing innovations in water, waste and environment, provided a high‑visibility stage for the state’s policy launch, underscoring Andhra Pradesh’s ambition to become a leader in integrated water governance in India.
