The state government of Andhra Pradesh has approved a scheme to supply electricity at no cost to all Ganesh Chaturthi pandals during the festival period.
The Andhra Pradesh government has rolled out a new scheme that will provide free electricity to every Ganesh Chaturthi pandal across the state. State authorities said the move aims to ease the financial load on organizers and ensure uninterrupted lighting and sound during the celebrations.
Under the scheme, power utilities will supply electricity for lighting, audio‑visual equipment and other essential needs of the pandals for the entire duration of the festival. The provision is being coordinated by the state electricity distribution companies, which will monitor consumption to prevent misuse.
Officials highlighted that the initiative reflects the government's commitment to supporting cultural and religious events that draw large crowds. Organisers of the pandals have welcomed the decision, noting that it will allow them to focus on safety and artistic aspects rather than utility costs.
The scheme is expected to be operational from the first day of Ganesh Chaturthi and will continue until the concluding rituals, ensuring that devotees across Andhra Pradesh can celebrate without power‑related interruptions.
