Andhra Pradesh has announced that its electricity distribution system now hosts 1,162.8 megawatts of solar generation at the feeder level, setting an unprecedented benchmark for the country. The achievement reflects the state’s aggressive push to embed renewable energy directly into local grids, reducing dependence on conventional power sources.
Feeder‑level solarisation involves connecting solar plants directly to the low‑voltage distribution feeders that supply households and small businesses. By doing so, the generated power reaches end‑users with minimal transmission loss, enhances grid stability and supports the state’s goal of achieving higher renewable penetration.
The initiative was driven by the Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation in coordination with the state electricity board, which oversaw the technical integration and compliance with grid standards.
