He emphasized the need to move beyond traditional crops and tap into high‑value produce such as popcorn, positioning the state for export markets.
The administration plans to provide financial incentives, modern processing facilities and market linkages to help growers scale up production. By fostering a value‑chain that includes storage, packaging and logistics, the government aims to raise farmgate prices and create new employment opportunities in rural areas.
Parallel to the agribusiness push, Naidu reaffirmed the state's commitment to river‑interlinking projects that will channel water from surplus basins to drought‑prone regions. The water‑sharing scheme is expected to secure irrigation for additional acreage, reduce dependence on monsoon rains and support the expanded crop portfolio.
Officials said the combined strategy of crop diversification and improved water infrastructure is projected to increase agricultural output by several percent over the next five years, strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s position as a leading food‑exporting state.
