The ‘Van Tara’ project led by Anant Ambani aims to provide medical care and habitat support to Maya, a rescued elephant in Kerala.
Anant Ambani, through his wildlife‑conservation programme ‘Van Tara’, has announced a focused effort to restore the health of Maya, an elephant that has been under state care in Kerala. The initiative comes after Maya was identified as needing urgent medical attention and improved living conditions.
The plan includes a team of veterinarians to conduct health assessments, administer necessary treatments, and design a nutrition regimen tailored to the elephant's needs. In addition, the project will fund upgrades to Maya's enclosure, ensuring a more natural and spacious habitat that meets wildlife‑welfare standards.
Kerala forest officials have welcomed the collaboration, noting that private‑sector involvement can accelerate the rehabilitation of rescued animals. They indicated that the support from ‘Van Tara’ will complement ongoing state efforts to safeguard the region's wildlife.
If successful, Maya’s recovery could serve as a model for future partnerships between corporate initiatives and government agencies in wildlife conservation across the state.
