In a coordinated operation, Amritsar rural police dismantled a drug and arms smuggling ring, arresting seven suspects.
In a surprise raid conducted by the Amritsar rural police, authorities uncovered a clandestine drug and arms smuggling network operating in the outskirts of the city. The operation, carried out early this week, led to the arrest of seven individuals believed to be key members of the syndicate.
Police officials say the suspects were involved in transporting narcotics and illegal firearms across state borders. Evidence seized during the raid included sealed drug packets, firearms, and documents linking the group to other smuggling operations.
The arrests are part of a broader effort by law enforcement to curb illicit trade in the region. Police spokespersons emphasized that the operation was a result of intelligence gathering and community cooperation.
The detained suspects are being held at the Amritsar district jail pending further investigation. Authorities have pledged to pursue all members of the network and to strengthen surveillance in vulnerable areas.
