In a major crackdown, Amritsar police seized 17 kilograms of heroin supplied from across the border and arrested three smugglers involved in the operation.
Police in Amritsar carried out a large‑scale operation that resulted in the seizure of 17 kilograms of heroin believed to have been smuggled across the border.
Deputy Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav confirmed that the arrested individuals had been in contact with cross‑border smugglers and were instrumental in acquiring the drug for further distribution.
The seized heroin was found in a concealed compartment of a vehicle that was intercepted during the raid.
The three suspects have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and are awaiting trial.
