Amritsar Police apprehended three individuals accused of carrying out extortion-linked firing and armed robberies under the guidance of handlers based abroad. A Zigana pistol was also recovered.
Amritsar Police have taken into custody three shooters believed to be involved in multiple incidents of extortion-related firing and armed robberies. The arrests were made on Monday by the city police.
Authorities stated that the arrested individuals were allegedly acting on the direct instructions of handlers operating from outside India. The operation to apprehend the suspects was part of ongoing efforts to curb organized crime with international connections.
During the course of the arrests, police officials also reported the recovery of a Zigana pistol. Further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the network and identify other potential accomplices and handlers.
