Amritsar police arrested ten suspects after intercepting a 2.75‑kg heroin shipment and weapons that had arrived from Pakistan via drone.
Amritsar police on Thursday arrested ten individuals in a major drug‑smuggling bust that involved 2.75 kilograms of heroin and a cache of firearms.
The seized drugs and weapons were part of a shipment that had reportedly flown in from Pakistan on a drone, according to police statements.
The operation, carried out by the city’s anti‑crime squad, was aimed at preventing the further distribution of the narcotics and the weapons.
All ten suspects were taken into custody and are expected to face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Police officials said the interception was the result of a coordinated intelligence effort that traced the drone’s flight path and the origin of the cargo.
