The Amritsar Commissionerate Police have launched a city‑wide flag march in all three zones to maintain law and order during the upcoming festivals.
Amritsar’s Commissionerate Police issued a special alert ahead of the festive period, ordering a coordinated flag march across the city’s three police zones. The move aims to deter any untoward incidents and ensure public safety as crowds gather for celebrations.
Under the flag march, police patrols will conduct heightened inspections of hotels, guest houses and paying‑guest accommodations, checking for compliance with licensing and safety norms. Officers are also instructed to monitor public gatherings and respond swiftly to any disturbances.
A police spokesperson said the intensified checks are a precautionary measure to pre‑empt potential law‑and‑order challenges and to reassure residents that security forces are vigilant during the high‑traffic season.
The operation, which began early this week, will continue throughout the festival days, with authorities urging citizens to cooperate with police directives and report any suspicious activity.
