Joint operation by Amritsar police and the Border Security Force recovered more than 7.5 kilograms of heroin, opium and firearms, leading to the arrest of two alleged drug traffickers.
In a coordinated raid conducted by the Amritsar city police and the Border Security Force, officials seized over 7.5 kilograms of narcotics, including heroin and opium, along with a cache of firearms. The operation resulted in the detention of two individuals suspected of being involved in cross‑border drug smuggling.
Senior police spokesperson said the seizure underscores the growing challenge of narcotics trafficking along the India‑Pakistan frontier. The recovered weapons are being examined for serial numbers to trace their origin, while the confiscated drugs will be sent to a forensic laboratory for verification.
Authorities have emphasized that the crackdown is part of a broader strategy to dismantle organized crime networks operating in Punjab. The joint effort reflects heightened vigilance by security agencies to curb the flow of illegal substances that threaten public safety in the region.
