Amritsar: Ex‑Trust Chairman’s Son and Partner Charged in ₹5 million Fraud

Punjab police have filed a fraud case against Vansh Bassi, son of former Amritsar Municipal Improvement Trust chairman Dinesh Bassi, and his associate Amit Bajaj for allegedly cheating ₹5 million in a property transaction.
Punjab police registered a criminal case at the Civil Line police station in Amritsar, accusing Vansh Bassi and his associate Amit Bajaj of committing a fraud worth ₹5 million. The allegation relates to a property deal in which the accused allegedly misrepresented facts to obtain money from the victim.
According to the FIR, the two individuals collected the sum by promising the transfer of ownership of a property that either did not exist or was not theirs to sell. The complainant reported that after payment, the promised documents were not provided, prompting a police complaint.
Investigators have seized relevant documents and are conducting a forensic audit of the transaction records. The case is being treated under sections of the Indian Penal Code that deal with cheating and criminal breach of trust.
