In Amritsar, cyber fraudsters have successfully deceived victims in two separate incidents, siphoning off more than ₹23 lakh in total.

Amritsar police have registered two separate cyber‑fraud cases after hackers allegedly targeted victims through mobile hacking, stealing a combined amount exceeding ₹23 lakh.

Investigators say the perpetrators used sophisticated techniques to gain unauthorized access to the victims’ mobile accounts, facilitating the transfer of funds to accounts under the fraudsters’ control.

The cases have been filed under the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act, and a joint investigation team has been formed to trace the digital footprints and recover the stolen money.

Authorities are urging citizens to be vigilant about mobile security, update passwords regularly, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
